"She's so cold, she's so goddamn cold"
Jagger/Richards
It's been below zero for a few days and with that blessed event comes the realization of true winter. The days are getting longer and that sun is a bit stronger mid afternoon. We have had a couple of spey questions and inquiries these last few weeks. Some clients are going for a jump start and are looking for some recommendations for DVDs or books on the subject. These are what I suggest.
  • 'Rio's Modern Spey Casting', Rio Products. Four hours of solid instruction. Very good discussion of principles and methods. This DVD will save you time and frustration.
'Spey to Z'. Three instructors who teach in a relaxed but informative manner. Pretty impressive casters.
The book and both DVD's are more than enough to overload your brain with doublehand information. You won't need anymore to get started. Remember you can watch these movies one hundred times and it won't help unless you put in the practice time.

While we are on the movie kick, the Fly Fishing Film Tour is coming to Maine! Cool films, great beer and a good cause. Located in Brunswick at The Frontier Cafe theater on March 4th and 5th.
Reserve your tickets sooner rather than later. This one will sell out.
