Nymph Leader.

'So quickly it's over'.
Ted Hughes

Nymphing is a staple skill. Try this leader formula for deeper even structure. Be sure to open up your loop. There is nothing pretty about this rig.
  • 3'-4' of .019 Amnesia running line. Nail knotted, blind spliced or looped to fly line. Add floatant paste to this if you wish.
  • Add either a medium to large Thingamabobber or large poly indicator. Attach indicator to Amnesia with a improved or regular clinch knot. If you use a poly indicator comb out the fibers well and add floatant. This will help suspend the nymphs.
  • Add tippet behind the indicator with a clinch or improved clinch knot. Add or shorten the length depending on the depth of the water your working.
  • We prefer using fluorocarbon for the tippet and adding a 'stopper' knot for split shot.
Playing around with this rig takes some getting used to. It can produce fast results in cold conditions. I don't see a warming trend in our near future.
