Into The Gloaming.

If your thinking about getting in one or two more days in this season stop thinking and go now. It's all about to change. Metabolisms are slowing down, takes are light and techniques are few. Here is the run down on whats working for us:
  • Nymphing: Size 16-20. One attractor pattern and one realistic pattern. Bright and dull. Simple system. Keep adding shot until you find the "zone". It's deep right now. No short leash systems. Fish the rig fully. Pay attention near the lift portion of the drift. Midge patterns in black and dark brown work well.
  • Streamers: Dead drifting small (10-12) dark, thick flies worked well in the afternoon after things warmed up a degree or two. Double rigs add weight and choices. Choose a material that adds bulk and movement to your streamers. Think wabbit.
I lost six fish today. Missed the set. Slow hook up. On the mend. At the net. On a jump. Pilot error. Needless to say my partner (pictured below) was not very impressed. One great thing about fishing with your dog is A: He never tells anyone how bad your game was. And B: He stays quiet about the days events on the ride home.
